light detritus

RÝMD gallery, Reykjavík. February 2026.
Working with organic darkroom chemistries and processes of altered scale and transparency, this exhibition takes its impetus from a line by the poet Jazz Money: “the end of the world was marked with beautiful light // we should have known.” Total exposure is treated doubly as a way of knowing and a form of harm. Craters, seeds, and marks on trees appear as traces within these exposures, forming poetic synchronicities across image and material.

List of works:
1. Fallen
Darkroom photogram prints of aerial image of Trinity test site, developed in coffee.
Seed of the American Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua).

2. LIVING IN THE EARTH DEPOSITS OF OUR HISTORY
1:30 minute video loop of expired Kodachrome Super 8mm film, developed in caffenol and scanned to digital.

Title and text based on the poem “Power” by Adrienne Rich, about Marie Curie and the wounds of her discovery.

3. Marked for removal
Punctured black and white negative Super 8mm film, developed in pine needles. The film depicts pine trees in the Öskjuhlíð forest in Reykjavík, which had been marked for removal. The film has been punctured in the location of the marks.
