Garden Crimes  /  Garðglæpir

Installation containing two video loops and a booklet

Dveljur / Dwelling exhibition. Reykjavík Botanic Gardens, Iceland, 2025.
Curated by Agnes Eir Jóhannsdóttir, Sigríður Regína Sigurþórsdóttir and Sunna Austmann Bjarnadóttir.

“Conifers are dug up overnight. A weeping birch tree vanishes. Dogs are barking at some movement in the garden, and all that’s left in the morning are holes in the dirt. A woman walks slowly towards a suburban lawn, where she uproots a pink Bougainvillea, and then carries it outside of the frame of the security camera. Garden Crimes is an archive consisting of two video loops and a booklet. I compiled it from internet posts, taken from reddit, where internet users seek solace after the puzzling, sad, and absurd disappearances of their domestic plants”.
